The 5 Best Public Piers in Brooklyn
Pier 4
Or “The 58th Street Pier” in Sunset Park, behind the Brooklyn Army Terminal. It’s much larger than its 69th Street cousin because it’s littered with parking spaces; it has been a ferry terminal in the past, though presently no ferries go there. It’s not the most convenient or bustling place to get to (I mean, up until pretty recently, trains still ran down First Avenue sometimes), part of why ferry service doesn’t seem to work there. But for casual visitors and explorers, that can be part of its allure: it’s like a secret pier, so secret I’m not even sure it’s still open! [photo]
