How Bloomberg Made NYC a No-Smoking Town
The Parks Ban
Bloomberg didn’t introduce many new anti-smoking initiatives in the next several years, but made a big push in 2011 when a ban to smoking in city parks, beaches, stadiums, pedestrian plazas went into effect. Hilariously, the city didn’t plan on enforcing the parks ban, but counted on other New Yorkers to shame those who were still smoking outside into putting out their butts. By 2012, the city had gotten a bit more serious about enforcing the ban. [photo]
