Inside Designer Angela Gao’s Brownstone
What do you do?
I’m the owner and creative director for a Brooklyn-based contemporary women’s wear label.
How long have you lived in Brooklyn?
I just moved here in September… though I’ve had my boutique here for three years—which is like living here part-time.
Why did you move to Brooklyn?
I LOVE the vibe!
What’s your favorite thing about the space?
The abundance of sunlight through my skylights and windows—it was love at first sight. And of course my jacuzzi bath tub!
What’s your least favorite thing?
Hmm… Nothing?
What are the three (inanimate) things you’d save first in a fire?
My computer, my collection samples, my sketches.
What’s your favorite room in the space?
The living room in the morning, around 10am.
If you suddenly received a windfall of cash, what changes would you make to your space?
I would probably perfect my roof, with a fireplace, wooden deck, grill, and a small garden.
If you could move your house/block/neighborhood to another city, which one would it be, and why?
Nowhere, it’s perfect here and uniquely New York.
