Sure, sharks are a pretty common aquarium staple (and about to become a lot more common), but Bertha was something special. This stalwart sand tiger shark — the largest one in the borough — stayed on at the Brooklyn Aquarium from the 1960s through 2008, when she died at the estimated age of 43, making her one of the longest-living sharks in the world.
