20. Harry Houdini
Houdini is basically the original hipster: the Hungary-born Master of Escape moved to New York from Wisconsin, and made weird “art” with his brother down in Coney Island. He met and married a nice girl from Brooklyn, too, a singer and a dancer. The kicker? Houdini’s not even his real name. It was Erik Weisz. So pretentious!
