When the Brooklyn Philharmonic performed its celebration of the ‘Bed-Stuy Tradition” this month, Mos Def was the headliner. But most of the concert’s first half was dedicated to Bed-Stuy daughter Lena Horne, the nightclub singer and Hollywood blacklister who attended Boys and Girls High School (back when it was just Girls High School) before she would make famous signature songs like “Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man,” “Honeysuckle Rose” and “Stormy Weather.”
