Atlantic Ave BID to Host Halloween Pub Crawl Saturday 10/25
For the second year in a row, the Atlantic Avenue Business Improvement District is sponsoring a Halloween pub crawl. The event will run from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Atlantic Avenue between the BQE and Fourth Avenue—ten long blocks—and will feature a costume contest, drink specials, and a DJ.
A pub crawl of this magnitude is sort of a parade for adults, really, and people who don’t like standing still while they drink. The event runs almost directly counter to the spirit of Halloween in Stroller Land, which is more or less the scene at many of Brooklyn’s other public Halloween events, though it promises to be nowhere near as adorable. The theme of the event is “Remember the 80s,” which is a perfect excuse to bust out your Thriller costume. Again.
Wristbands are only $5 if purchased ahead of time, which is one happy hour beer at most of the bars involved, and $8 at the event, which is one menu beer at most others. The wristband also enters crawlers into the official costume contest, which will earn winners a $50 gift certificate at the Hollow Nickel, at 494 Atlantic Ave. A full list of specials and other prizes can be found at the crawl’s official website.
The most daunting special is to be found at Waterfront Ale House, at 155 Atlantic Ave, which is offering the “Angry Blacken’d Pumpkin”: Chelsea Pumpkin Ale layered with Guinness Stout topped with a shot of hot sauce, all for $6.
