Gorillaz To Host Williamsburg Pop-Up Store This Week
Looking to bring a virtual experience into the real world? That’s always the case with Gorillaz, and this week our borough gets the chance to take that even further: the band/project/group/collective is opening a pop-up shop this week in Williamsburg, offering fans a chance to get some exclusive new merch ahead of their headlining performance at The Meadows festival in Queens on Saturday night.
The shop will be open both Thursday and Friday, on Grand Street in Williamsburg, with the doors opening at 5 p.m and closing at 10 p.m each evening. You can get a peek at some of the goodies that will be available at the G Foot shop right here; all of it is carefully curated by Jamie Hewlett, the creative co-founder of Gorillaz alongside Damon Albarn himself.
One thing that you’ll only be able to find at the Williamsburg pop-up is a limited edition Gorillaz New York T-shirt, created exclusively for the store; quantities will only be available until the store runs out during its two-day run.
Suffice it to say, this is a big weekend for fans of the virtual band. Between a sure-to-be-thrilling headlining Meadows set (and the Gorillaz always bring some friends along) on Saturday night, and this pop-up for a couple days before, you’ve got a great opportunity to bridge the gap between dimensions. And if you can make virtual reality into reality reality, why wouldn’t you?
In the meantime, why don’t you check out my favorite song off the great new Gorillaz album? It’ll probably be your favorite too:
The G Foot Pop Up Shop can be found on Thursday and Friday at 560 Grand St, Brooklyn, NY 11211, from 5:00-10:00 P.M. Gorillaz will headline The Meadows festival on Saturday night.
