Brooklyn Cat Cafe to Open this Weekend in Fort Greene
It’s hard to deny that cats are the biggest Internet meme in existence, but they’re not just the subject of gifs. Even though cats are emblazoned in their own DIY magazines and sometimes dazzle crowds as part of circus acts that tour the country, they occasionally need our help. That’s why Brooklyn is getting its own pop-up Cat Cafe this Saturday, where you’ll be able to adopt your own feline in addition to a few other things.
The idea behind The Cat’s Meow, which will take place at 354 Myrtle Avenue in Fort Greene, is to combine the cuddliness of pet adoption with both chill vibes and good eats, the latter of which will be provided by event sponsors Brooklyn Sweet Spot and Red Lantern bicycles.
If you’ve always wanted to be the parent of a cat-in-need, this occasion should serve as a calling: The Cat’s Meow is orchestrated by Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition, pet store Who’s Your Doggy, and Weruva Pet Food, so you’ll for sure be able to adopt the cat of your dreams and take em’ home with ample foodstuffs.
But if adopting a pretty kitty isn’t what you’re after, you’re encouraged to check out all the Cat Meow’s other programming, which includes everything from “yoga date nights” to author readings, gallery showcases and movie nights. The Cat’s Meow is quick to note that all of these activities will take place in the company of many cats, as its website suggests that you swing by and “read a book (while petting a kitten)” or “watch a movie (while petting a kitten),” or “eat a snack (while petting a kitten).”
So go pet the kittens, why don’t you?
