Sponsored: The Bronx Zoo Celebrates 120 Years of Saving Wildlife
After 12 decades, the Wildlife Conservation Society is ringing in their 120th anniversary with a citywide photo safari.
It’s a social media scavenger hunt of sorts, where participants are asked to snap and share photos of New York in all its wild, picturesque glory. All the fun of a trip to East Africa, minus the $1,300 plane ticket, and plus the chance to win a free trip to Belize.
Getting started is simple: All you need to do is sign up at NYisWild.com with your Instagram or Twitter account, check out the WCS-provided list of 120 ways to go wild in New York, and then get out there and start shooting ‘em. When you do, just remember to tag your photos with #NYISWILD and hashtag the corresponding number, from 1 to 120.
Those who submit 10 of the 120 ways to go wild will have the chance to win an all- expense-paid trip to Belize, where the WCS has worked to conserve the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System. Other prizes are available for those who missed the cut, like becoming a sea lion keeper for a day.

The Wildlife Conservation Society was founded on April 26, 1895, and opened the Bronx Zoo 4 years later in 1899, where they helped rescue the American bison from the brink of extinction.
The organization has since expanded throughout the boroughs to include the Central Park Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, Queens Zoo, and the New York Aquarium, while also conducting field conservation programs in more than 60 nations and in all the world’s oceans.
Tickets to all five WCS wildlife parks will be discounted 10 percent at NYisWild.com.
