The tribute begins at 10:30 am at the Howard Gilman Opera House (30 Lafayette Avenue, Fort Greene) and is free to the public. It also kicks off a day of events that includes a book signing by West at in the BAMCafe; an art exhibit, “Picture the Dream” at BAMCafe; a showing of the Ken Burns documentary The Central Park Five, which shows at 1pm at BAM Rose Cinema; and more—all of it free; all of it a perfect way to honor the legacy of a national hero.
