New Bike Lanes Are Coming to Bushwick, You Can Help Plan Them
Good news for Bushwick residents: The New York City of Department of Transportation is planning a new network of bike lanes to serve the area. Plus, they’re letting the cyclists of North Brooklyn chime in to help map where the potential new lanes will be. So if you live in Districts 34, 37, or the area covered by Community Board 4, now’s your chance to weigh in.
The survey is accessible on the DOT website, and asks about the routes and streets that cyclists use most often. Participants can list up to 10 roads that they think would be good candidates for bike lanes.
“We know that cycling has a long history in Bushwick. From the recreational riders in the Schwinn Club to those who commute for work, many Bushwick residents are choosing to move around by bike. There are also many people who ride because they have no other choice,” NYC DOT Bicycle Program representative Inbar Kishoni told the Bushwick Daily. “It is the most convenient and cheapest option.”
