Florida Now More Populated Than New York
New York state is no longer in the top three most populated states in the union, according to the Census Bureau’s new report. That’s right kids: We have fallen to number four, behind Florida, with 19.7 million residents to Florida’s 19.9 million. (The top two are California and Texas.) But the punishment for moving to Florida is that you have to live in Florida, so, you win some you lose some.
Demographers (I know, it really is a job) estimate that Florida gained 300,000 residents from July 2013 to July 2014 while New York gained just 50,000. “It was a long time coming,” specialist Jan K. Vink told the New York Times. “Florida has been growing much faster than New York.”
Honestly? That is fine. If we can siphon off a couple more hundred thousand people, maybe we can finally have some affordable housing around here.
