R Train Tunnel Opening Two Weeks Ahead of Schedule: Report
When was the last time you heard about the MTA completing something ahead of schedule? And yet, that’s apparently what’s happened. Soon, the good folks of Bay Ridge and Park Slope (and the other neighborhoods the R train services) will be able to take one line all the way to Manhattan. No, like, really soon.
According to the New York Post, which cites unnamed transit sources, the R train will resume service between Manhattan and Brooklyn starting this Monday, September 15. That’s two weeks before the original estimate of opening the tunnel in October.
Service on the R train tunnel was suspended in order to fix the damage from Hurricane Sandy, and has been out of whack for over a year now. But if unnamed transit sources are to be trusted (the Daily News also has one) the R will be roaring back after this weekend.
