You Can Now Make Your Own Kentile Floors Sign

It’s been more than two months since we lost the Kentile Floors sign in Gowanus to a combination of development and its own decrepit state. It was a bittersweet but necessary moment. And in honor of that a local producer has created a kit allowing Brooklynites to build our very own Kentile Floors signs—at least, until the old one makes its triumphant return.
Via Curbed: The folks over at Boundless Brooklyn, a local producer of model kits and other tchotchkes, have created the Kentile Floors Sign Model Kit and for $20 you can have your very own sign, measuring 1/8” W x 4 1/4” D x 8 5/8” H. Perfect for the Brooklyn apartment.
Meanwhile, the real Kentile Floors sign remains in limbo, and is being taken care of by the Gowanus Alliance through the efforts of City Councilmember Brad Lander. There’s no word yet where the sign will go or whether it will get the fix-up it so desperately needs before it’s reinstalled.
Guess we’ll have to make do with our cardboard model (or Boundless Brooklyn’s equally awesome, Kentile Floors magnet) until then.
