Name: Lawrence Lui
Neighborhood: Out & about
The record you’ve probably listened to most in your life? Tom Waits, Rain Dogs. I wore out the tape on a teenage trip to Europe…still a classic.
Brooklyn-based band to watch? White Gallery. Nouveau goth with a great gravel-voiced singer and ghostly guitars
Favorite place to go see a show? Bossa Nova Social Club. A tiny dancefloor in the heart of Nuyorican Bushwick is sometimes all you need. Some great DJs play here under the radar.
Favorite Brooklyn bar? Weather Up. Deep in the shadows of the massive and impersonal Barclays Center is this little gem of a cocktail lounge where the friendly staff is usually better dressed than you.
Go-to drink? Vodka sodas. To go please.
