After much speculation, we are very happy to announce that the roller rink at Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 2 is finally opening to the public this Friday, July 11.
The full-size roller rink, operated by New York Skating LLC, will open to skaters from 3 pm to 6pm tomorrow when a free skate session will kick off. After the event, the roller rink will be available for in-line skating, roller hockey and roller derby as well as public skate time, league play and time to just hang out and look cool on your in-lines.
And remember, the roller rink is only one of a dozen new activities visitors to Pier 2 can participate in. The new recreational hotspot also boasts a whole lot of courts: three for shuffleboard, two bocce ball, five full-size basketball courts, and six designated areas for handball. There’s also a workout area outfitted with equipment, children’s swings and park amenities like public restrooms and picnic tables.
Admission is first come first served. Make sure to bring $6 to rent skates.
Free skate sessions will take place on Mondays and Fridays from 3-6 pm and on Sundays from 10am to noon.
