Today’s Track: White Lung “Down It Goes”
White Lung — “Down It Goes”
Today is, officially, the third day of summer. It’s that time of year when we’re all teetering on the edge of oblivion: long days, longer nights, never-ending happy hours, open bars, and a new him or her around every single corner, just waiting to break our silly little hearts in two. It’s a kind of controlled, bordering-on-apocalyptic chaos that Vancouver-based foursome White Lung would understand well. “Down It Goes” is a triumph of screaming guitars and wailing vocals (the latter thanks to full-throated frontwoman Mish Way), but with just enough underlying melody to bring it all home — kind of like the harvest moon after an endless summer night, guiding you back across Williamsburg to your own humble abode. Turn it all the way up.
You’ll have two chances to catch White Lung live this week. At Saint Vitus, as per our 5 Shows Not To Miss This Week post or at Mercury Lounge.
