Brooklyn Kid Sets Off Firecracker In School Bus, Injures 16
Just before 7:30 this morning, sixteen students were injured on a school bus at the intersection of Ocean Ave and Dorchester Road in Ditmas Park, because “one or two” students set off a firecracker, CBS New York reports.
The bus was en route to the Brooklyn Dreams Charter School on Coney Island Ave when the student(s) set off the smoke bomb device, causing a “smoke condition” within the bus, where kids complained of “respiratory problems, watery eyes and scratchy throats.”
11 students were taken to nearby hospitals and five were treated at the scene. One student was seriously hurt.
Let’s recap: over Memorial Day weekend, there were eight shootings in one day, two stabbings this morning, and a retired cop shot and killed an 18-year-old in Brooklyn who tried to rob him.
