Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 2 Opens This Week
The day we’ve been waiting for has finally arrived: Brooklyn Bridge Park’s amenity-heavy Pier 2 will open this week.
According to a press release from Park officials, Brooklyn leaders will drop by this Thursday, May 22 for an opening ceremony. The ceremony will also mark the opening of Pier 4, which features a beach, boat launch and bird habitat.
We first heard news of the new Pier 2 back in February when Community Board 2 announced that the refurbished space would boast all kinds of new features. Just as a reminder, visitors will find three shuffleboard courts, two bocce courts, five full-size basketball courts, six handball courts, a workout area outfitted with equipment, children’s swings, park amenities like public restrooms and picnic tables and finally, a roller rink, which we got a first look at last month that will open later this year in June.
Now, all those sweet, sweet features will be open to the public just in time for what’s shaping up to be an eventful Memorial Day Weekend.
