Video: All The Pie Is Coming To Gowanus This Summer
Because there is never, ever enough pie in the world, Four & Twenty Blackbirds will open a 3,000-sq-ft pie mecca at Third Ave and Sackett St this summer, which will include a cafe, outdoor garden seating and a rooftop herb garden, reports Grub Street. Even better? Eventually, alcohol will be involved.
While we already felt spoiled by Four & Twenty Blackbirds’ new Brooklyn Public Library outpost this spring, sisters and co-founders Emily and Melissa Elsen plan to open the even-bigger new digs in August, all while keeping their current space farther south on Third Ave at 8th St for as long as they can. What’s more, they’ve got plans to expand to even more neighborhoods in the future (!).
Eventually, Four & Twenty Blackbirds will move all of the baking over to the larger space, and even start serving savory lunches, like soups, sandwiches, beer, and wine, because drinking + pie = everything.
Plus, the Elsens will start hosting pie-baking classes this year, as well as a training program for prospective F&TB bakers. “We’re going from one oven to six ovens and from a 300-sq-ft kitchen to 2,000-sq-ft,” said Emily. Translation: there is about to be a lot more pie in your life.
