The 25 Best Houses in Brooklyn: A Highly Subjective List
73 Vanderbilt Avenue, Fort Greene
This 1850 house is an example of what used to fill the neighborhood before Robert Moses and the BQE came crashing through, razing everything in their path. It’s a shame, really, because this three-story home might not be the flashiest place in the borough, but it’s been around since the time of Walt Whitman. Walt Whitman! Homes like this are parts of Brooklyn history, and worth preserving. Plus, we like how it slumps a little. What? You’d slump too if you were 164 years old.
