Brooklyn Super Bowl Snacks: A Primer
Carbs with Spreads
This one’s a little less traditional (and a little more labor-intensive), but bear with me. Kristin recently alerted me to this Honest Fare recipe for Beer Bread, which is as simple to make as it is delicious (the beer does the work of yeast, meaning every complicated part of bread-making is taken out of the equation here, and it’s even easier than making baked goods from a mix). It also tends to take on the flavor of whatever beer you’re using, so it’s a nice way to experiment and personalize the recipe (maybe this is the place to implement that Brooklyn Lager)? It’s a wonderful vehicle for cheese, meat, chili absorption, and just about anything else you can think of, but for our purposes we’ll go with Empire’s beloved Blue Cheese Mayonnaise, which they’ve re-released just in time for the Super Bowl. If you’ve never thought of mayo as a stand-alone spread, Empire will change all that.
