Bloomberg Gets All His Suits Custom Made in Bushwick

The nicest story about $1,000 custom-made suits you’ll hear today: in Women’s Wear Daily, Bloomberg gave a nice plug to longtime Bushwick institution Martin Greenfield tailors, which has also outfitted the likes of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. Well, a mostly nice plug.
After noting that he gets “every suit” from the local business, which has been around since the 70s and hand-stitches all of its pieces, the outgoing mayor also said of its location around the Morgan Ave. L stop, “I was out there the other day to get a new sport jacket and I come outside—and this is in a dumpy warehouse part of Brooklyn—and there’s a juice bar across the street and another fancy place. The whole neighborhood is changing.” So, we can now add “backhanded complimenter” to the list of Bloomberg’s dubious talents. And maybe also “juice bar apologist?”
