Day of the Dead Dining Guide

Had your fill of candy corn, slutty SpongeBob SquarePants costumes, Freddy vs. Jason reruns and the Monster Mash? As long as we’re in the habit of liberally borrowing from other cultures’ holiday traditions (see Oktoberfest, St. Patrick’s Day and Cinco de Mayo), why not shake your celebrations up a bit — and keep the morbid momentum going — by embracing the Day of the Dead this year?

Many of Brooklyn’s best Mexican restaurants are gamely cherry-picking from the most enjoyable aspects of the three-day festivity (meant to honor loved ones that have passed) by plying us gringos with sugar skulls, sweet breads, skeleton makeup, music, and of course, lots and lots of excellent food and booze!
