10 Easy, DIY Meme Costumes for HallowMeme 2013
The IKEA Monkey
Remember this little guy? Now this costume-as-meme will be referencing an event from a very, very long time ago (December, 2012…and eternity on the Internet) but it’s still worth wearing for a couple reasons. One: it’s a pretty simple costume to put together. All it takes is a shearling coat, and maybe some face paint. Shearling coats can be purchased for pretty cheap at just about any thrift store (now is not the time to hit anything other than a Salvation Army) or could be had for as little as $18 on Ebay. Just practice looking forlorn and lost, and maybe carry around an IKEA bag with you. You could also call back to another meme (though this one was already used a lot last year) and carry a frame around with you while you’re dressed up as the IKEA monkey, because that little angel sure did look a lot like that ruined Ecce Homo fresco from Spain. Maybe that’s because the IKEA monkey is the second coming of Jesus? Who’s to say, really? Anyway, it’s a solid costume.
