Five Fall Weekend Trips To Get You Out of Brooklyn
Cider Breweries in Warwick
Warwick has gained a pretty solid reputation as a weekend vacation spot over the years (hence, its staggering number of bed and breakfast options), and with good reason. It’s adorable, family friendly, and only an hour’s drive outside the city. Its biggest strength, though, is as a hub for upstate New York’s burgeoning (and pleasantly inevitable) hard cider industry. The biggest game in town is the Warwick Valley Winery and Distillery, which bottles Doc’s Draft Ciders, and also its own “rustic gin.” They’re set up pretty well as a tourist destination—there are plenty of events on-site, a restaurant, and the option to go apple and pear picking—but it’s worth tearing yourself away to head over to Applewood Winery, which, in addition to an eclectic wine list, is responsible for Naked Flock cider, some of the very best in the industry. If you really want to go full throttle with the autumnal theme here, it also comes in a pumpkin flavor. Try this, and you’ll never look at the artificial syrup kind the same way again.
