Where to Eat During Oktoberfest

Berlyn: If your perception of German food doesn’t extend much further than deep-fried veal cutlets and mustard-slathered sausage, it’s time to try the fancified regional fare at Berlyn. There’s a classic Flammkuchen; crispy flatbread topped with cheese, smoked bacon and caramelized onions, Duck Leg Confit with red cabbage cherry slaw, fingerling potatoes and lingonberry gastric, and (gasp!) even a mighty fine vegetarian option — a Strudel filled with goat cheese, braised greens and a soft poached egg. And as long as you’re acting refined, forgo the steins of beer for a classy cocktail, like the Berlyn Im Fruhling made with Bols Genever, Plymouth Gin, elderflower, lemon juice and Peychauds bitters.
