Summer Travel Dining Guide: Where to Eat At or Near NYC’s Top Transit Hubs

Penn Station: No. 7 Sub at the Ace Hotel
Although it’s undoubtedly the most widely used public transit hub in the city (boasting Amtrak, PATH, LIRR, New Jersey Transit, bus and subway lines) the culinary atmosphere here remains doggedly miserable. Yes, you can get sushi, steak tacos and even curried goat, but why risk courting severe intestinal distress when vastly superior dining options are only blocks away? After securing your train ticket, flee the grimy catacombs of Penn for the nearby Ace Hotel. In addition to two April Bloomfield joints (The Breslin and the John Dory), you’ll find both Stumptown Coffee and a branch of Tyler Kord’s inexplicably yummy No. 7 Subs. Believe it or not, your stomach will respond much more favorably to broccoli, pickled lychee, peanut, and ricotta salata-stuffed sandwiches than anything you’ll find at Don Pepi Express.
