Hot Enough for Ya? Ugh. Here Are Five Easy Ways to Beat the Heat
Institutionalize Yourself
No, I’m not recommending you check yourself into a hospital. Although, those are usually on point in terms of temperature control. What I’m suggesting is going to any one of the many incredible culture institutions that we have at our doorsteps in Brooklyn. All of these places are guaranteed to be cooler than being outside, and you have the added bonus of feeling like a more enlightened being than any of the sweat-dappled masses who are playing Frisbee in the park or whatever. Head on over to BAM and watch a movie. Have you seen Frances Ha yet? No? What’s been stopping you? It’s in black-and-white. Everything is cooler in black-and-white. Go! Make your way to the Coney Island Aquarium and spend some time watching the walruses and sea otters and penguins. This also has the added benefit of supporting an institution that is still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Sandy. Go! And then there’s always the Brooklyn Museum, where not only can you spend a day looking at art, but you can cool yourself off in the fountains at its entrance. So, go! And be cool. It’s really important in life to be cool.
