A Visitor’s Guide to the Brooklyn Flea
What To Do When You’re Done
Sort of the real clincher if you’re trying to decide which branch of the Flea to visit. Essentially, you need to decide: once you’re done with the flea, do you want to keep shopping and make a smooth transition into day-drinking, or would you rather do something a little more laid back, like grabbing brunch and catching a movie? For the former, Williamsburg and its endless array of vintage stores and bars is the obvious choice—we’d prescribe a stop by Antoinette Vintage (for lovingly selected pieces) and Junk (for just about everything else you could think of), then one of those crazy frozen coffee and brandy drinks they make over at Skinny Dennis, maybe the most refreshing thing you could conceivably put into your body after hours spent browsing in the sun. If you’re sticking to Fort Greene, a low key brunch at Olea Mediterranean Taverna or Madiba is probably in order, or you could put a little leg work into it, and take some fancy cheeses and spreads from the Greene Grape up to Fort Greene Park for a picnic. Really, it all hinges on how many tchotchkes and new pieces of furniture you’re lugging around with you by the end of this. Trust us when we say that it’ll be a lot.
