The 8 Best Theaters in Brooklyn
St. Ann’s Warehouse
This DUMBO-based theater, currently in a (very nice) interim space on Jay Street before moving into the Tobacco Warehouse, has been around for 33 years, and each season they program a whole lot of top-notch theater. Heck, just this next season, they’ve got an acclaimed all-female Julius Caesar coming in from London, a production from the newly lean and focused New York City Opera, and a world premiere from storyteller extraordinaire Daniel Kitson—and those are just the shows we recognize off the tops of our heads. We look forward to discovering something new, too; this year, we decided to see The Wild Bride because we’d just read a book about Grimm Fairy Tales (one of which it was based on), and it turned out to be one of the best shows we’ve seen all year.
