7 Times the NYPD Lied
Innocent: Michael Premo
Premo was arrested at an Occupy Wall Street march for obstructing vehicular traffic (on a street closed to traffic), for resisting arrest and for assaulting a police officer—a felony! His lawyers hunted for video of the arrest; police, seen in other videos pointing video cameras at the arrest, said they didn’t have any. Finally, a freelancer was found with video of the event—video that directly contradicted the sworn testimony of the officers, showing Premo in fact had assaulted no one. Had that video not been found, and a jury believed police testimony over that of the defendant, an innocent man could have gone to prison for a felony! How fucking horrifying is that?
