The Best—and Worst—Things About Brooklyn During the Holidays
Benjamin Samuel; editor, Electric Literature
Not that I’m opposed to all that “Peace on Earth” stuff, but I reach my limit of Christmas carols pretty quickly. By the time that annual Santa Pub Crawl comes around, I’m ready for it all to be over. So, for me, the holidays are about getting out of the city to spend time with people I want to be with. Today, though, there was a hippie on the subway proselytizing about how “Jesus went into his spaceship or whatever” and I wouldn’t mind having more of that kind of spirit around for the holidays.
