We asked some of our favorite people in Brooklyn what it is they love—or hate—most about the holiday season in this city of ours. The thing about this time of year in New York is that, while it might not be traditional in the sense of snow-covered fields and horse-drawn sleighs, there are tons of city-specific holiday moments that make us all happy to be spending the first days of winter right here in Brooklyn. Unless, of course, you hate it here during the holidays, which is, frankly, as understandable as loving it. Here are some of the best—and worst—things about Brooklyn during the holidays. No one mentioned my personal Brooklyn holiday pet peeve, which is the ubiquity of Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime” in every single drugstore, everywhere. It’s the worst.
