DUMBO Businesses Need Your Help Rebuilding

As anyone who looked at those unbelievable pictures of Jane’s Carousel knows by now, DUMBO took on quite a bit of water during Hurricane Sandy, and Brooklynites will rally together tomorrow night to raise funds to help local businesses bounce back. Galapagos art space and bar will host the Fundraiser tonight at 6:00 PM.
Galapagos itself suffered heavy damage from flooding, but with the help of industrious neighbors managed to open November 3rd. However, over a dozen other local business, including One Girl Cookies, Almondine, Punto Bianco, Ignazio’s, Brooklyn Roasting, among others, didn’t fare as well. They took a heavy beating during Sandy, and they could use a little TLC and some cash. As if further incentive was needed, the event will include a raffle to win a personalized voicemail recording from Marty Markowitz. Which is completely, utterly impossible to turn down.
The event was already postponed because of the sneak attack nor’easter last week, but all previously purchased tickets will be honored. More details here. Go out for a good cause!
