Williamsburg High School Teacher Busted Carrying 18 Bags of Heroin… Into Jury Duty!
Damian Esteban, a teacher at the Williamsburg High School of Architecture and Design, was arrested Wednesday after trying to walk through a metal detector with 18 small bags of heroin, reports The New York Times. After he set off the metal detector, a court officer found the cause was a cigarette box in Esteban’s pocket, concealing his stash.
The Times also reported that “Mr. Esteban’s page on the school’s Web site shows that last spring he taught a class titled ‘Global IV.’ One of his homework assignments required students to write a brief paper saying whether they agreed or disagreed that Napoleon was the child of the French Revolution.'” We don’t know why they reported this, but they did. According to his LinkedIn profile, he graduated from McGill University with an M.A. in Islamic studies and a GPA of 3.95. Grades, of course, can be deceiving.
Esteban’s webpage has since been taken down from the school site. No word yet on whether he’ll remain employed.
