Spider Bite Beer Company Launches First Six-Pack Release

Just a few weeks ago, Long Island’s increasingly buzz-worthy Spider Bite Beer Company made their first foray into the world of bottled beer, releasing their flagship brew, First Bite Pale Ale, in six-packs. It’s a fairly standard take on the style: caramel in color, with a solid, sweet malt backbone and a refreshing, understated fruitiness that gives way to moderate bitterness. It’s not earth-shattering, but it’s insanely drinkable and a fantastic example of a very basic style that, oddly, not a lot of the other locals offer.
The brewery, which took home the “Best Craft Brewery in New York” award at this year’s Tap NY festival, is already planning additional bottle releases. Come October, they’ll release their 10% ABV imperial stout, Boris the Spider, in four-packs, and they’re considering bottling their outstanding Eight Legged Rye Pale Ale by the end of the year as well.
Six-packs of First Bite are currently available at Breukelen Bier Merchants in Williamsburg and at New Beer Distributors on Christie Street.
