Tonight’s Louie Was Filmed in Brooklyn
Scenes from tonight’s episode of Louie were filmed at the Community Bookstore in Park Slope (Paul Auster’s favorite!), the first of two appearances the shop will make this season, Fucked in Park Slope reports. In fact, much of the third season of the celebrated, previously Manhattan-centric FX comedy was filmed in and around Park Slope: “the Key Food on Seventh Avenue and Carroll Street, P.S. 321 on Seventh Avenue and First Street, Cafe Regular du Nord on Berkeley Place and Seventh Avenue, the Prospect Park carousel, and the Brooklyn Public Library at Grand Army Plaza,” DNAinfo reports. They also filmed in two private residences on Westminster Road in Prospect Park South. (C’mon, can’t we just call that neighborhood Ditmas Park now?)
“That’s not to say that, in the world of Louie, these places will actually be in Park Slope,” Fucked in Park Slope writes. “It might even be, gasp, ‘in’ Manhattan.” But I think the show generally has shown a coherent sense of New York geography; I’m especially thinking of this season’s first episode, which featured a nicely edited montage in which Louie rode a motorcycle through Manhattan into Brooklyn. Did you guys know he hired Woody Allen’s editor, Susan E. Morse?
