Brooklyn Brewery Launches G Train Songwriting Contest

Riding the G train might not make you feel like singing, but if you can muster up a tune, you could win a trip to Sweden. Brooklyn Brewery’s “Brooklyn, Sweden” contest calls for the borough’s songwriters to write a song with lyrics about or inspired by the borough’s infamous subway line. There are no restrictions on the style or genre of song, and considering that the line stretches from Greenpoint to Bed-Stuy to Kensington (save the G train extension!), there should be all kinds to choose from. Hopefully someone writes a ballad for this guy.
Contestants have until July 24 to submit their video. Finalists will be posted to Brooklyn Brewery’s Facebook page from July 25 to August 1, and voted on by fans. The winner gets a trip to Malmo, Sweden’s Debaser Festival, a free hotel stay, and two festival passes. That’s right… you won’t have to ride the G train for a week!
The winning song will also be posted on the Brooklyn Brewery and Debaser websites.
