When A Walmart Comes To Town

Walmart has been targeting an area in East New York for its first NYC location, catalyzing vigorous opposition both locally and on City Council. Contrary to pamphlets distributed by America’s largest corporation all over Brooklyn, credible studies (University of Illinois and Loyola University) have shown that Walmarts have a negative impact on local economies. We asked some long-time local shop owners for their thoughts on the possibility of a nearby Walmart.
