As screwcap wines have come into fashion, so too has beer in a can. Red Hook-based Sixpoint has begun canning four of its brews, while Brooklyn Brewery will sell twelve-pack aluminums of its Summer Ale this season. “New canning technologies keep the beer fresh tasting, so forget previous notions that canned beer is inferior,” says Karl Knoop, Brooklyn’s operations director. “Cans are lightweight, compact, and block out harmful sunlight, which causes beer to ‘skunk.” Also, shotgunning!
