Even The Son Of Sam Thinks New Yorkers Are Too Violent

Well, this throws things into kind of a harsh perspective.

David "Son of Sam" Berkowitz, who famously gunned down 13 people between 1976 and 1977, says New York has too much gun violence, and has given a new interview imploring society to "take the glory out of guns."

So, one of the most notorious perpetrators of gun violence this city has ever seen thinks things have gotten a little out of hand. Ouch.

Berkowitz, who has become a born-again Christian while in prison, told The Daily News, "Young people have no business carrying a gun. I would love to speak bluntly to those gangbanging teens and wanna-bes and tell them prison is nothing like what you think [...] I'm looking beyond gun control. That's for the legislators to wrangle with. My hope is just that young people would understand just how terrible this violence is. When they use a gun against someone else, they ruin their lives too."

Citing the recent death of 4-year-old Lloyd Morgan at a basketball game in the Bronx, Berkowitz said, "as months and years go by, you realize that that one moment of uncontrolled impulse leads to loss of life... Look at the 4-year-old who was killed."

Can't exactly argue with that, but still... unexpected. Maybe Bloomberg would care to team up with his new gun control ally for a little good-cop-bad-cop PR?
