The Weekender: What to Wear to the Great Hot Dog Cookoff

While Nathan’s annual hot dog eating contest may be fun to watch, it’s an inevitably frustrating experience—food, food everywhere, but not a drop to eat. Which makes this other regular meat-fest—Saturday’s The Great Hot Dog Cookoff, now in its seventh year—a nice alternative. You get an endless afternoon of weenie sampling, and amateur chefs get the chance to be crowed Top Dog. Plus, all net proceeds go to the Food Band for NYC. Of course, there are a few sartorial problems posed by a day of snacking, but it’s nothing a tent dress or a pair of drawstring shorts can’t fix.
