Kosher BBQ Joint Coming to Crown Heights
Old Crown Heights, meet New Crown Heights. A new smokehouse on Troy Avenue is coming to the neighborhood to serve up all things barbeque, with a kosher twist. OK, that means most things barbeque: No pork here. But pastrami, veal, chicken, brisket, and other delectable smoked treats will soon be coming to Izzy’s BBQ Addiction.
The owner of the joint, Sruly “Izzy” Eidelman, learned how to barbeque in the backyard of his parents’ Borough Park home, he told DNAInfo. He soon moved on to competitions, gaining accolades at the First Annual Southern New England Kosher BBQ Championship and the Kansas City Barbecue Festival.
The shop, on Troy between Crown and Montgomery, will have the capacity to smoke 600 pounds of meat at a time, as well as seat 25 customers. A liquor license might also be in the works, too. Look for update’s on Izzy’s BBQ Addiction’s Facebook page.
