Watch St. Vincent Sing A Brand New Love Song To Cara Delevingne
In early February drummer Matt Johnson–who is best known for playing with Jeff Buckley–was struck by tragedy when his son Jasper suffered a brain-altering major seizure. Jasper was left in need of major brain surgery, and because of the enormous cost of the procedure the family organized an online crowdfunding page, as well as a benefit concert set for June 28 held at Le Poisson Rouge.
Many of the performers of the night have previously worked with Matt Johnson–the lineup featured Elysian Fields, Father John Misty and St Vincent (who he previously toured with) and several others. At the show, St Vincent, AKA Annie Clark, was accompanied by her girlfriend, model and actress Cara Delevingne. Dressed in a toilet costume (?), Annie played a selection of songs at the benefit, but most notably a new track which many speculated to be about Delevingne herself. Along with a number of her other songs played through the night, the song can be heard through a selection of clips on Instagram. It’s slow and sweet, less energized and spastic than the St. Vincent sound that we’ve grown used to lately, yet still quite captivating.
While the show sold out, their crowdfunding campaign has only raised 25% of their goal. Donate to the campaign and read more information about Jasper’s predicament here. Below, listen to some snippet of St. Vincent’s new song and her performance of “Bring Me Your Loves” from her fourth studio album, St. Vincent.
