Summer Is Coming, We Swear: 2016 SummerScreen Movie Lineup Announced
For the past 11 summers, hoards of moviegoers have plopped themselves atop blankets with buddies, snacks, and perhaps their dog, to soak up the warm summer air and cinematic gold of free throwback movies on a big screen in McCarren Park.
Today, SummerScreen—the outdoor music and concert series from Northside Media Group—is back to announce its 2016 lineup of six cult classic films that will make six Wednesdays in July and August way more fun. Which is to say, try not to miss these filmed jewels, starting July 6:
Scream, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, The Fast and the Furious, 10 Things I Hate about You, and The Royal Tenenbaums. Gold, gold, gold, gold, gold.
Then! For the August 10 screening, you can pick between: Almost Famous, Fifth Element, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Snakes On A Plane, Superbad, and You Got Served. Cast your vote here.
As always, excellent local bands will kick off your outdoor evening with live jams at 7pm, followed by the film at sundown. Stay tuned for the complete musical lineup, to be released shortly. Local vendors will also be onsite to serve you tasty things to eat and drink.
So hang in there. Summer is coming, it really is. We promise.
