Feel the Bern: A Brooklyn Company Makes Bernie Sanders Hot Sauce
There are myriad ways to support one’s candidate besides T-shirts, bumper stickers, and fervent, potentially divisive missives on Facebook—especially when it comes to socially conscious Brooklynites. Now they can proudly proclaim their political proclivities through a canny choice of condiments as well.
A grassroots, small-batch company called Tango Chile Sauce—brewed in Red Hook and shipped out of Greenpoint—has recently released a “Feel the Bern” version, complete with limited edition label honoring the borough’s notoriously fiery native son. Commanding $10 per bottle (10% of proceeds go directly towards the Bernie Sanders campaign), the piquant tincture is made with carrots, garlic, lime, Jamaican hot peppers, sawtooth cilantro, apple cider vinegar and salt. Applied judiciously, it should ideally last until January 20th, 2025.
So, your move, artisan foodstuff-crafting Clinton supporters. We’re especially looking at our numerous, local pickle purveyors—someone’s got to get a jump on “Dillarys for America.”
