Junior’s Takes Its Beloved Cheesecake to South Florida
Maybe Junior’s owner Alan Rosen has been watching the extended remix to the Golden Girls theme song or maybe the below zero temperatures this past weekend had him searching for warmer weather, but whatever the case might be, Floridians will soon be able to enjoy Junior’s renowned cheesecake for themselves later this year.
According to the Miami New Times, a new Junior’s 270-seat diner will be replacing a former Ruby Tuesday in Boca Raton come September 2016, with a menu similar to the original Brooklyn spot. Serving classic New York comfort foods like corned beef and pastrami sandwiches, and of course, cheesecake, the South Florida location will also come furnished with a full bar, bakery, take-out department, and patio.
And despite losing the exclusivity of being just a New York staple, it’s fitting that the expansion is going to a region that holds cheesecake in the same high regard as it does key lime pie, the state’s unofficial dessert. Or maybe even higher.
