Watch Mount Moriah’s Nostalgic “Baby Blue” Video
“You know nothing lasts forever, even if you want it to,” Mount Moriah vocalist Heather McEntire reminds us tenderly on “Baby Blue,” a sentiment that pairs well with the poignant moments portrayed in the song’s new video. Director Jordan Michael Blake takes us on a visual journey through a series of seemingly candid moments like a smiling baby in his father’s arms and a man sitting naked at his kitchen table sending a text. The video, which premiered over at Stereogum, is for their latest single off the North Carolina trio’s upcoming third album How to Dance. The video allows behind-the-scenes moments to mix freely with the staged scenes, a tactic of transparency that forces us to examine the meaning behind life’s little moments — the ones that often fly under our radar despite the fact that we believe ourselves to be present in them. “Baby Blue” is slow-burning and steady folk song, and the stark, simple images will evoke a familiar wave of nostalgia in the pit of your stomach. How to Dance is out on 2/26 via Merge Records. Pre-order it here.
